BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan Monday stressed the implementation of policies designed to facilitate the employment of college graduates in Hubei Province.

Leading a central government group to oversee the COVID-19 epidemic control work in Hubei, Sun, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks in a visit to Wuhan University.

She said state-sponsored rural employment programs will expand recruitment and demanded incentive policies to encourage more college graduates to join the military or start their own businesses.

Online recruitment services should be optimized, more support should be given to graduates in need and discrimination against job hunters from hard-hit areas should be eliminated, she said.

Sun also urged epidemic prevention and control efforts on campuses before students’ return.

WUHAN, March 31 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan Tuesday called for efforts to organize spring plowing and help enterprises resume work and production.

Leading a central guiding group to oversee the epidemic control work in Hubei Province, the previous epicenter of the COVID-19 epidemic, Sun, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while inspecting spring plowing and production resumption in the Hubei city of Xianning.

The group visited a tea farm and two enterprises in the city.

While ensuring the epidemic control, efforts should also be made to capitalize on the window for spring plowing, Sun said, urging strengthened farm management, detailed technical guidance for farmers, convenient transportation for agricultural materials and more help for Hubei to sell farm products.

Sun also stressed that during this critical period to resume work and production, the supporting measures for industries should be improved to provide more driving forces for enterprises.

Preferential policies for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises should be fully implemented, Sun noted, adding that the problems of local authorities and enterprises should be solved in a timely manner.

Chinese vice premier stresses employment via online platforms

BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua called for all-out efforts to make full use of online platforms to boost employment as the novel coronavirus outbreak has dampened the country’s job market.

Hu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks Wednesday during an investigation of a national online recruitment program.

The special hiring project, launched on March 20, offered over 10 million positions for job seekers.

After hearing reports of the program, Hu held video conferences to learn about work resumption of enterprises and online recruitment and paid special attention to key groups like college graduates and migrant workers.

Noting that this year’s employment situation could be tough due to the epidemic, Hu urged localities and relevant government agencies to guide all kinds of employers to provide more types of jobs and help those with employment difficulties.

The vice premier also underlined the use of online platforms in special recruitment plans, career guidance and vocational training as normal hiring activities were disrupted by the outbreak.

Meanwhile, public employment service agencies and relevant market institutions should be encouraged to share information on job vacancies and strengthen the coordination of online and offline recruitment activities to ensure a stable job market, Hu said.

WUHAN, March 1 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan Sunday stressed giving full play to the role of medical personnel sent to Hubei Province, the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak, in containing the epidemic.

Sun, who is leading a central government team guiding the epidemic control work in Hubei, made the remarks during a video conference with representatives of more than 340 medical teams that arrived in Hubei from across the country.

Acknowledging the prominent contributions made by the medical teams, Sun, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that the speedy gathering of over 40,000 medics on the anti-epidemic frontlines demonstrated the strength of the country’s system and has won international acclaim.

More efforts should be made to optimize medical resource allocation, strengthen safety protection for the medical personnel and strictly implement incentive measures so that the medical teams will maintain their morale in the battle against the epidemic, Sun said.

The central government team Sunday inspected the epidemic control work at a local social welfare institute and a prison, stressing enhanced containment efforts in densely populated areas and the adoption of precise isolation and treatment measures in such places.

Senior official stresses eradicating poverty in west China on schedule

LHASA, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) — A senior official has called for enhanced efforts in eradicating poverty in west China’s underdeveloped areas and making sure to win the battle against poverty on schedule.

Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chief of the State Council leading group of poverty alleviation and development, made the remarks when he inspected poverty-eradication work in Tibet Autonomous Region from Oct. 11 to 13.

Parts of Tibet, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and provinces of Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu and Yunnan are major targeted areas for the country to win an overall combat against poverty on schedule.

Hu said the poverty alleviation campaign has entered a crucial stage and the country will continue its efforts unswervingly to ensure all rural population living in poverty-hit areas will be lifted out of poverty.

More efforts should be made to satisfy the need of poor population in terms of compulsory education, basic medical care, safe housing and drinking water.

To consolidate achievements of poverty relief campaign, more measures should be taken, including boosting poverty-alleviation industries and county-level economy, and enhancing follow-up support for people relocated from harsh living conditions, he added.

Vice premier stresses education, healthcare for Greater Bay Area

BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan has called for efforts to boost social causes such as education and healthcare in south China’s Guangdong Province to better serve the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Sun, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a three-day research tour in Guangdong that ended Saturday.

She visited major higher education and medical institutions in the province and presided over a symposium in Shenzhen, asking local departments to make more specific policies and measures to serve the construction of the Greater Bay Area, enhance their coordination and help push the development of the area to a new level.

Sun urged efforts to optimize the structure of higher education of the Greater Bay Area and encouraged universities in Guangdong to open up their resources in scientific research to universities and research institutes in Hong Kong and Macao.

She also asked for further cooperation and exchanges of talent in medical care within the Greater Bay Area, better implementation of the policies that grant Hong Kong and Macao’s medical institutions and doctors access to the mainland, and deeper cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine.

Li Xi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, attended the events along the tour.

BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Liu He on Thursday met with Chairman of the U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC) Evan Greenberg in Beijing at the latter’s request.

Liu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China welcomes the U.S. side’s latest decision to delay an increase in tariffs, which was previously scheduled for Oct. 1.

The whole world looks forward to seeing progress in trade consultations between China and the United States, Liu said, adding that working groups of both sides will meet next week and have earnest discussions on trade balance, market access, protection of investors and other issues of common concern.

The U.S. business sector does not want to see a hike in tariffs, and hopes that the two countries will solve their differences through consultations and bring bilateral trade back to normal, Greenberg said.

The USCBC is willing to play a positive role in this regard, he added.

Serbian president pledges to advance ties with China to new levels

BELGRADE, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) — Serbia hopes to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields, including military, to advance bilateral relations to new levels, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said.

Vucic made the remarks on Friday when meeting with visiting vice chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, Zhang Youxia.

Vucic said that history has proved that China is Serbia’s most reliable friend. The Serbian government, people and military support the “one-China” policy as well as China’s stance and proposition in many other issues concerning China’s core interests.

Vucic added that the Belt and Road Initiative has brought many opportunities to the development of Serbia. He said he hopes that the two sides will continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, including military, to advance bilateral relations to new levels.

Zhang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that the traditional friendship between China and Serbia is profound.

He said that China is ready to work with Serbia to consolidate the all-weather friendship between the two countries, promote the quality of their bilateral relations and accelerate the growth of their ties.

Zhang also called for the militaries of the two countries to implement consensus reached between the heads of state of China and Serbia, deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance exchanges and cooperation in bids to promote their links to new height.

During his visit, Zhang also met with Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, and witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a Chinese medicine center in the Serbian Military Medical Academy.

CHONGQING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Liu He on Monday called for seizing the new opportunities in technological development and promoting the healthy development of the intelligent industry.

Liu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks at the 2019 Smart China Expo that opened Monday in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality.

At the opening ceremony, he read a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping.

The letter fully demonstrated that the president attaches great importance to the development of intelligent industry, and pointed the direction for the sector’s healthy development, Liu said.

Noting that China’s economy is switching from high-speed growth to high-quality development, Liu said the country’s dynamic microfundations and sufficient macro-policy tools can ensure the sound fundamentals of its economic development.

China’s intelligent industry is developing rapidly and emerging as a new economic growth point, Liu said.

To promote the sector’s development, efforts must be centered on promoting the well-being of humanity, maintain a balance between efficiency and job creation, respect and protect individual privacy, and uphold the ethical and moral bottom line, he said.

In underscoring China’s willingness to advance international cooperation in the intelligent sector, Liu said China welcomes enterprises from all over the world, including the United States, to invest and operate in China.

The country will continue to create an appealing investment environment and strengthen protection of property rights and intellectual property rights, he said.

China is willing to resolve problems calmly through consultation and resolutely opposes the escalation of the trade war, Liu said, adding that any escalation will run against the interests of the people of China, the United States and the whole world.

Senior official underlines drinking water safety in poor areas

YINCHUAN, July 27 (Xinhua) — Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has urged more efforts to address weak links in the country’s poverty alleviation campaign, including drinking water safety in the impoverished areas.

Hu, also chief of the State Council’s leading group of poverty alleviation and development, made the remarks during an inspection tour from Friday to Saturday in the city of Guyuan in northwest China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

After visits to some impoverished villages, Hu said efforts should be made to ensure compulsory education, basic medical care, and housing for the rural poor, while drinking water safety should be guaranteed.

The country’s central authorities should speed up the implementation of poverty relief policies, while local governments should increase fund use efficiency, he said.
