Xi goes to central China on inspection tour

ZHENGZHOU, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, went on an inspection tour in central China’s Henan Province Monday.

He presented a basket of flowers to a monument to revolutionary martyrs and met local representatives of the Red Army veterans’ descendants as well as relatives of the revolutionary martyrs.

Activity of journalists retracing route of Long March conclude

CHINA-GANSU-HUINING-LONG MARCH ACTIVITY-CONCLUSION (CN)

The activity, held from June 11 to Aug. 18, was aimed at paying tribute to the revolutionary martyrs and passing on the traditions of revolution. The Long March was a military maneuver carried out by the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army from 1934 to 1936. During this period, they left their bases and marched through rivers, mountains and arid grassland to break the siege of Kuomintang forces and continue to fight Japanese aggressors. China to mark 70th anniversary of PRC founding with mass activities

BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) — China will launch mass activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

The activities will take multiple forms across the country with patriotism at the core, according to a circular jointly issued by the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council.

The activities will include touring urban and rural areas to fathom changes in the country, story-telling by citizens about endeavors to realize their dreams, thematic book reading, cherishing the memory of revolutionary martyrs, and national defense education activities, according to the circular.

The slogans of the 70th anniversary celebration were also unveiled in the circular.

Campaign to promote paying tribute to revolutionary martyrs kicks off in China
